Annual Outdoor Bhagwat Katha

The 7-day Bhagwat Katha, held in both morning and evening sessions, takes place in the serene outdoor gardens, forest, and natural ravine at Vishnu Mandir in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Begun in 1993, this event plays a vital role in fostering spiritual growth, cultural preservation, and community engagement. It is modeled after the traditional Bhagwat Katha celebrations in Guyana, South America.

Spiritual Enlightenment:

Led by Dr. Doobay, the Katha offers participants profound insights into Hindu philosophy and devotion, sharing timeless stories from the Shrimad Bhagavatam that deepen both understanding and spiritual practice.

Cultural Preservation:

The event serves as a cornerstone for preserving and promoting Hindu traditions in North America. It acts as a vital bridge between generations, connecting younger participants to their cultural roots and ensuring that important customs are passed down.

Community Engagement:

The outdoor setting encourages wide participation, fostering a sense of unity and collective devotion among attendees. A significant highlight of the event is the Rudra Hawan, held on the first Monday of the Katha. Families and friends gather around individual Kundas to perform the Hawan, as the Pandit recites the Rudram. Additionally, at the start of each daily session, devotees gather in the peaceful Gazebo area, nestled between trees and a flowing stream, to partake in the Hawan. The tranquil atmosphere makes this a beautiful and spiritually uplifting experience.
