Also known as the Tree of Life, the Ashwatha Tree symbolizes calmness, longevity, and hope. In Hindu mythology, the Ashwatha, or Sacred Fig, is a sacred tree deeply mentioned in Hindu texts, including the Rig Veda (Mantra I.164.20), where it is referred to as ‘peepul’ (Ficus religiosa). In Buddhist tradition, the tree is known as the Bodhi Tree, under which Gautama Buddha meditated and attained enlightenment.
